GPS TrackMaker® in your Language!
|
 |
|
GPS TrackMaker® is compiled originally in English, Spanish and Portuguese. All sentences of the program are registered in a binary file called language.dat present in the same directory of the program.
To change the language, just replace language.dat with the new file downloaded from this page.
Open GPS TrackMaker®, click on Help -> Language and choose the new language. Close the program and open it again. Note: if language.dat is available in an old version, TrackMaker will show the absent sentences in english. Download the File of Your Language

Creating step-by-step a version of GPS TrackMaker® in your language
|
 |
|
If your language is not listed in the above list, you can create your own language.dat. It is a hard work because there are more than 1500 lines to be translated, but your work certainly will help many other people!
The language.dat is created from a MS Excel tablesheet called language.xls.
1) Extract language.xls from language_x.zip (see list below).
2) Open language.xls in Microsoft Excel® and click on Languages.
3) If you wish to add a new language, create a new line and type the name of the language in english, portuguese, spanish and the original name. GPS TrackMaker® supports up to 8 languages in the same language.dat.
Example:

You can also replace Portuguese or Spanish with the new language. "English" can not be replaced.
4) Click on "General" to see the main sentences.

Each column corresponds to each language. For each language created, a new column must be created, but if you just replaced "Portuguese" or "Spanish" in "Languages", do the same in the respective column.
All tables must be translated.
Some pieces of advice:
- The first column must be always in english.
- Many words like "Waypoints", "Wpts", ... should not be translated
- Do not use quotation marks """.
- Always verify the size of the sentences. Do not exceed the maximum size shown in English,Portuguese or Spanish.
- Verify the logical sequence - Ex: H ,M, S (Hour, Minute, Second); "M" is not meters.
- Don't worry with the redundancies. They may be useful in other languages.
- Do not use "..." after the sentences. TrackMaker places it automatically.
- "No Accents" table must be translated without accents. Use only "A" to "Z" and numbers.
- Do not use spaces before and after the sentences.
- Be sure the tables are configured to "TEXT" in Microsoft Excel.

Compiling the language.dat
|
 |
|
|
As soon as you finish the translation, it is necessary to convert the language.xls to the binary file language.dat. Use the program called Language.exe to do that.

1) Install langcomp.exe in your computer (3.58MB - Version 1.1).
2) Be sure language.xls is saved with the last changes
3) Open Language.exe and press Open XLS...
4) Choose language.xls and press Open.
5) Press Verify... to see the number of lines translated that will be compiled.
6) A message "*** XLS File OK ***" will be shown if the file is ready to be compiled.
7) Press Compile DAT to create the language.dat in the same directory of language.xls.
